Hidden Dog-Friendly Gems in South Shore

Having just celebrated the first day of summer and longest day of the year, it seems only fitting to bring this info to you.  There is no better way to enjoy the summer than having your dog at your side, and we want to make that even more possible this year.

We are lucky enough to live in one of the most dog-friendly areas in the country – let’s get out there and take full advantage!  We bring to you a full list of the best state parks, dog parks, dog beaches, and outdoor activities our beautiful South Shore has to explore.

If you have any favorite spots not on this list, please share them with us!  Everyone loves a new place to try out with their pups.  Find us on Facebook or send us an email at news@taketheleadpetcare.com.

First thing’s first…SWIMMING!

When you think “summer”, you automatically think “swimming”!  Those hot summer days are best enjoyed in a pool, at the beach, in a lake, or splashing through a stream in the woods.  Pack up some clean towels, water & bowl, leash and your dog then hit the happy trail to your favorite swimming hole.

Not sure where to go with your dog?  Don’t worry – we got this!  Check out our blog for all the best swimming spots and dog friendly beaches to enjoy right here in South Shore!

If your dog isn’t crazy about water, or you’d like a new activity to try together, there are countless other options.  Our area hosts wonderful state parks with camping, swimming, hiking, horse trails, and more.  Myle Standish State Forest, for example, is one of the largest parks with over a dozen ponds, multiple camping areas, and miles of trails to keep you exploring for hours!

South Shore has many exciting dog parks to try out with your pup as well.  BringFido.com is a great resource to learn about the parks in South Shore, read reviews and see pictures before you visit.  You can see that list of top dog parks in South Shore here.

CBS Boston covered a fantastic story on our dog-friendly area with this article.  Not only do they provide a full list of dog parks, off-leash parks, and state & local parks, but also some dog-friendly shops, restaurants, and inns to visit, too!  You can make an entire day of exploring our area with your dog constantly at your side.

Maybe you’re itching for some new sights…

And that’s okay, too!  Spread your wings and venture out farther into our breathtaking state.  Scan through this list of off-leash dog parks across the entire state and choose where you want to visit next.  A short day trip or a long weekend with your dog is just what we all need this summer!

The days only get shorter from here.  Enjoy every minute of the sunshine while it lasts!
