The Pure, Natural Power of Chia Seeds Unleashed for Your Pet!

We all remember the Chia Pet craze of the 1990’s, right?  Everyone and everything from the president to Scooby Doo had a grassy hair-do to grow or groom as you wish.  Who would’ve thought that years later the same seed would be a craze all over again but for a brand new reason – our pets’ health!

Chia seeds are a bunch of goodness in a tiny package.  Chia seeds have THREE TIMES as much omega-3 fatty acids as salmon, are packed with protein, fiber, magnesium, calcium, and are a naturally gluten-free whole grain.

Chia seeds are excellent for healthy cells and a strong immune system, great for joint health as well as the skin and coat, brain development & health, and helps to fight inflammation, too!  With all of these benefits in just one or two teaspoons, why aren’t we feeding this to our dogs?

The added fiber from chia seeds are great for those dogs and cats with problematic bowel movements, such as constipation and diarrhea.  Another added bonus?  Chia seeds can hold up to TEN TIMES their weight in water, helping to absorb fluid from fresh water and other foods the animal eats.

When mixed with water, chia seeds turn into a gel which can then be consumed.  This gel is digested slower in the intestinal tract and helps our pets to absorb more nutrients from other foods eaten.  Slower digestion means blood sugars are regulated naturally, helping to maintain energy levels and aid in weight loss or weight management.

Chia seeds have very little taste or smell, making them a perfect additive for the pickiest of eaters!  And a little goes a long way!  The suggested dosage is ¼ teaspoon for every 10 pounds of body weight.

Try mixing some chia seeds in with your pet’s food or baking them a homemade treat with chia as the secret ingredient!
